5 Parramatta Square
5 Parramatta Square is a civic building that includes a central library on the first and second floors, along with council offices and chambers above, designed for Parramatta City Council in the Parramatta Square precinct. The project evolved from a design competition won by Lacoste + Stevenson Architects in 2016.
Brian was part of the design delivery team, overseeing the project from development to construction documentation. The building underwent significant design changes to comply with local planning regulations and budget constraints. The external facade was modified from a louvred design to a cost-effective tessellated skylight facade through a Section 4.55 modified development application.
Brian worked on the sloped southern facade in collaboration with a facade engineer from SURFACE Design. He coordinated building overhang heights with the URBIST town planner to minimize overshadowing and ensure compliance with LEP height control and building setback provisions.
